AsiaElec: CATL improves EV battery charging, secures large-scale lithium supplies

Chinese battery manufacturer CATL has reported an industry breakthrough in charging efficiency for electric vehicle (EV) batteries.

At an industry event in the commercial capital, Shanghai, CATL's senior scientist, Wu Kai, was reported as saying that new materials had been developed with the potential to improve the current levels of charging efficiency of lithium batteries.

Wu opted not to release any specifics related to the newly developed electrolytes or the charging process, although he did say that a full 50% efficiency increase had been achieved in what was termed “extreme cold at minus 20 degrees Celsius” in a report later released on numerous sites.
