AsiaElec: Nuclear energy programme advancement in Indonesia awaits presidential approval

The establishment of the Nuclear Energy Program Implementation Organisation (NEPIO) in Indonesia, aimed at accelerating the development of nuclear power plants (NPPs), is currently pending approval from President Joko Widodo, according to statements from Djoko Siswanto, Secretary-General of the National Energy Council. Speaking at a press conference, Djoko revealed that IAEA's recommendations for the commercialisation of nuclear power involve meeting 19 conditions. While 16 conditions have been fulfilled, three are still pending, with NEPIO establishment being one of them.
