The Kenyan government has announced plans to increase the country’s liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) use from 6.5kg per capita to 15kg per capita by 2027.
Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria revealed the policy during the summit of the Petroleum Institute of East Africa and World Liquid Gas Association Africa LPG in Mombasa around mid-June. During the event, he continued to highlight that LPG consumption in Kenya had more than doubled – with citizens increasingly utilising the fuel for cooking in place of predecessors such as dung, wood kerosene and charcoal.
