DMEA: NNPCL sued over missing oil revenue

A local independent accountability watchdog – the Socioeconomic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) – has taken the Nigerian National Petroleum Co. Ltd. (NNPCL) to court, claiming the company has failed to remit billions worth of oil income to the state.
The case – put before the Federal High Court in the country’s capital Abuja, has been based off of a report made by Nigeria’s auditor general that focused on $2bn worth of missing revenue, according to a SERAP statement made April 26.
The NNPCL has not yet responded to requests for comment.
