DMEA: Scania partners to launch biodiesel project in Côte d’Ivoire

Scania West Africa, TotalEnergies Marketing Côte d’Ivoire, the Ivorian Refining Company (LA SIR) and Agence Nationale d’Appui au Développement Rural (ANADER) have launched a new biodiesel project in the capital of Côte d’Ivoire, Abidjan.

The pilot will aim to target emissions from public transport by replacing fossil fuels with the locally produced sustainable alternative.

Currently both compressed natural gas (CNG) and sustainably produced biofuels from waste are Africa’s best options for quickly reducing emissions stemming from both private vehicles and public transport systems.

Scania previously collaborated with ANADER – a public agency supporting rural development in Côte d’Ivoire – to locate opportunities for producing biofuels locally from rubber and cocoa in 2017.
