DMEA: Sonangol awards Lobito project management deal to KBR

US-based engineering company KBR has been awarded a project management contract by Sonagol for the design and construction of Angola’s planned 200,000 barrels per day (bpd) Lobito refinery in Benguela.

The terms of the contract, announced in a March 14 press release, stipulate that KBR will provide services involving project management, engineering, procurement and construction phase execution.

The Lobito refinery project is currently one of the most advanced energy infrastructure projects in Angola and was incepted to help the country towards energy independence – while also contributing to the creation of jobs and general economic development in the region.
