DMEA: Tankers face further disruption

Gibson Shipbrokers has stated that tankers are potentially facing a second source of disruption from Libya alongside the Red Sea crisis.

According to Gibson, the source of the disruptions stems from Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC), which declared a force majeure at the Sharara oil field due local protests over fuel prices and lack of economic opportunities.

The issues come following multiple production shutdowns after the Libyan Civil War, with the country’s oil infrastructure often being a target between different factions.
