Egyptian Enppi and Petrojet plan to form engineering venture with French Technip Energies
Egyptian state-owned engineering and oil services firms Enppi and Petrojet plan to establish a new joint venture with France’s energy firm Technip Energies (EPA: TE) to compete for large-scale projects and expand the export of engineering and construction services, Al Mal reported on January 27, citing Egypt’s petroleum ministry.
Technip Energies is a major French engineering and technology company specialising in the energy transition (LNG, hydrogen, and sustainable chemistry), formed as a spin-off from TechnipFMC in 2021.
The proposed alliance seeks to create a flexible entity capable of delivering front-end engineering design (FEED) and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects more quickly and efficiently, while maximising local content, Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi said.
Completion of the new company is targeted for the end of June 2026.
The new entity will utilise Enppi’s and Petrojet’s extensive domestic assets and track record, combined with Technip Energies’ advanced technologies and global project experience, to strengthen Egypt’s energy markets.
Marco Villa, senior adviser to the chairman of Technip, outlined the core pillars of the partnership, including technology transfer, operational integration, and access to innovative financing solutions through international export credit agencies. The aim is to enhance the consortium’s competitiveness in bidding for complex projects.
The partners agreed to identify a flagship project, potentially in sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) or advanced refining complexes, as a launch platform for the venture. They will provide it with the credentials needed to compete globally.
The new entity is also expected to serve as a hub for deploying digital solutions and artificial intelligence in project execution. It will also focus on training young engineers to compete in markets across the Middle East and Africa.
