Egyptian firm Enppi secures $355mn deal for integrated energy project in Oman
Egyptian oil engineering and energy services firm Enppi has secured a $355mn contract to execute the integrated Badour North-East Birba project in Oman on behalf of Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), Al Mal reported on May 21, citing a statement from Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum.
The company won the contract following an international competition involving major global energy firms, according to the statement.
Enppi is a state-owned enterprise primarily owned by the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC). The company has been slated for a future minority stake Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) as part of the government's privatisation program.
Enppi will act as the project’s main contractor on a turnkey basis, handling all phases from design through completion. The project marks Enppi’s first operation in Oman and represents a significant step in the company’s regional expansion strategy across Gulf markets. PDO is Oman’s leading oil and gas exploration and production company, accounting for the vast majority of the Sultanate's crude oil production and natural gas supply. The company is a joint venture private enterprise owned by the Omani government, which holds a 60% majority stake.
The integrated Badour project aims to increase gas processing capacity at the Birba Gathering Station from 1.4mn standard cubic metres per day to 4.2mn standard cubic metres per day, while maintaining oil processing capacity at 4,000 cubic metres daily. The scope of work includes engineering design, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, in addition to operational support for six months after the project’s initial handover.
The project is also intended to improve gas processing efficiency and significantly reduce gas flaring, supporting Petroleum Development Oman’s environmental targets and its commitment to achieving zero routine flaring by 2030 through gas recovery and sustainability initiatives.
