LatAmOil: BP, Shell and EOG bid in Trinidad and Tobago’s oil and gas auction

BP, Shell and US shale producer EOG Resources submitted six bids on four blocks to explore for oil and gas in Trinidad and Tobago’s shallow-water auction. The three companies already operate in Trinidad.

A total of 13 blocks were offered in the auction. The acreage will likely be used for gas exploration.

Trinidad, Latin America’s largest producer of LNG, plans to announce the auction winners in around four months, said Energy Minister Stuart Young.

The three companies bid on the Modified UC block, near the Poui, Sammaan and Teak fields, which are already producing.
