AfrOil: Honeywell secures $500mn contract for Libya’s South Refinery

The US-based energy group Honeywell has secured a deal worth $500mn to carry out engineering work on the South Refinery project, Reuters reported on March 27. The company signed a contract for the project with Libya’s Zallaf Oil and Gas, a subsidiary of state-owned National Oil Corp. (NOC).

The project will be executed in two phases, Zallaf explained in a statement.

According to the statement, the South Refinery will produce LPG (cooking gas), jet fuel and other refined petroleum products. Additionally, it is expected to turn out 1.4mn litres per day of gasoline and 1.1mn lpd of diesel.

In related news, the US oilfield services provider Halliburton is reportedly gearing up to sign a new $1bn agreement with NOC to rebuild production infrastructure at the al-Dhara oilfield in central Libya, which was severely damaged by Islamic State militants in 2015.
