AfrOil: NLNG operations still disrupted due to unavailability of pipelines

Nigeria LNG (NLNG) has reported that the factors that led it to declare force majeure last October continue to impact its operations.

The consortium’s initial declaration was a response to widespread heavy flooding that disrupted supply chains, preventing the company from meeting its contracts. These challenges have lingered because the liquid evacuation pipelines used by key gas suppliers are unavailable due to continuous sabotage and vandalism, NLNG explained.

Andy Odeh, a spokesperson for the group, confirmed that NLNG would continue to suspend operations for these reasons. “The force majeure still subsists as the unavailability of upstream gas suppliers’ major liquids evacuation pipelines, occasioned by sabotage and vandalism, still impacts feed gas supplies. NLNG continues to collaborate with its customers to minimise the impact of the consequent gas supply shortage,” he said.

Despite the disruptions, NLNG has not yet to had cancel any of its shipments.
